Frequently Asked Questions

Each chronic pain situation is unique, and so is the treatment plan for resolving it. Your therapist will complete an evaluation for your specific circumstances and condition and make recommendations from there. The more involved you are in your recovery, the better. We see the fastest and best results when people have the willingness to follow the recommendations they’re given. Your recovery and freedom from pain will vary depending on the injury and the level of chronic pain. In most cases, though, we see it gradually improve. If your pain is acute, you’ll initially require more sessions. As your pain lessens and condition improves, you’ll require fewer sessions, though regular massage therapy visits will help keep you pain-free long-term.

All of our therapists have extensive training in massage for healing and use a variety of techniques for relaxation and pain relief. Some of our therapists have certifications in TMJ therapy. Owner Emma Pearson, who is certified in Prenatal Massage, also possesses extensive experience and knowledge in Chinese medical massage.

Aside from that, our therapists undergo regular training to advance their skills. This focus on education aligns with our commitment to giving our clients the best experience possible each time they get a massage.

Massage therapy can be extremely helpful to an existing pain management plan when it’s positioned to work alongside it, rather than as a standalone method. The value in adding massage to a treatment plan means patients now have a powerful and effective tool to address musculoskeletal, neurological, and stress-related pain. Without massage, pain is often tough to manage by medication or procedures alone.

Because our focus is on pain relief and recovery, each massage brings relief, relaxation, and lessened pain from injuries, conditions, and stress-induced muscle tightness. To add even more to a session, clients can choose from these add-ons or choose a specific focus:

    • Deep tissue massage
  • Deep tissue massage add-ons: Gua Sha, Tui-Na, Cupping, Neuromuscular, Sports, Hot Stone, and Myofascial Release
  • Prenatal and postpartum massage
  • Couples massage
  • PIP L&I injury treatment massage

We have more of a medical and Eastern medicine focus. This is important because we look at the body as a whole—we don’t just treat one isolated area. So you feel better all over, in mind, body, and spirit. This gets you back into balance and helps your body recover quickly too.

To get reimbursed for Medical or PIP/L&I massages, check if your insurance covers both in-network and out-of-network services. Many providers offer quick online processing, but this can vary. If covered, request a general massage therapy prescription with a diagnosis code from your doctor. They can fax it to us at (425) 437-5886 or you can upload it with your massage request form. In-network clients will have their insurance billed directly, while out-of-network clients will receive a super bill for reimbursement. Copay or co-insurance is required at the time of service for in-network clients, and full payment is due for out-of-network clients. We accept FSA and HSA payments. Contact us with any questions.

Your massage will take place in a comfortable, quiet room where you will lie on a table specifically designed for your comfort. You may ask for the table to be warmed and soft music may be played to help you relax.

You should undress to your comfort level. Traditionally, massage sessions are performed with the client unclothed, but it's completely up to you. You will be properly covered during the entire session to preserve modesty.

No, the massage therapist will step out of the room while you undress, allowing you time to get comfortable on the table under the sheets and blanket. They will knock to check that you are ready before returning to the room.

Yes, you will be properly covered at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. The therapist will adjust the coverings to expose only the area they are working on.

Typically, a full-body massage will include working on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. If you have an area you would like to have excluded during your session, please let your therapist know ahead of time. Your comfort and preferences are our priority.

During a Swedish massage, you'll experience broad, flowing strokes that calm your nervous system and relax your muscles. As you relax, the therapist will gradually increase pressure to target specific areas. Light oil or lotion is used to reduce friction and hydrate your skin. If you feel any discomfort, let your therapist know so they can adjust. Also, inform them of any allergies before starting. Communication is key for a great experience.

After a massage, most people feel very relaxed and may experience less tension or relief from long-term aches and pains. You might also feel energized, with greater awareness and less stress, which can last for days. Stay hydrated and give your body time to adjust after the session.

If you feel like you need a massage, you're probably overdue. Incorporating massage into your self-care routine is beneficial. If you're recovering from an injury or surgery, frequent massages may be necessary. Some people get massages monthly, while others prefer weekly sessions. There's no one-size-fits-all answer, so listen to your body and schedule a massage before you feel it's absolutely necessary. Your body will thank you.

Inform your therapist of any changes in your health, such as new injuries or health issues, and any new medications you're taking. If you're under a doctor's care, get a written recommendation for massage. Depending on your condition, you may need approval. Also, let your therapist know about any allergies before the session begins.
